Pinellas Man Accused of Sexually Battering Child
The abuse took place over five years when the victim was younger than 12, Pinellas deputies say.
PINELLAS COUNTY – Pasco deputies have arrested a man suspected of sexually battering a child who was under the age of 12 at the time of the abuse.
Timothy Massey, 38, a transient, was charged with Capital Sexual Battery on a Child Less Than 12 Years Old. He was arrested Monday (April 20) in Wesley Chapel and taken to the Pasco County Jail where he will stay until he is taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said detectives began their investigation April 2, after they learned the victim sent a letter to a family member about ongoing sexual abuse.
According to detectives, the victim was shown pornographic videos and was sexually battered by Massey over a period of five years. At the time of the abuse, the victim was under the age of 12.
During the course of the investigation, detectives attempted to locate Massey for questioning, but learned he fled the area. They got an arrest warrant for Massey, who was found Monday in Wesley Chapel.
