Largo Man Accused of Shooting at Police
No one was injured during the event, Largo police say.
LARGO – A drunken, suicidal man has been accused of firing a gun at police officers during a standoff Saturday (Aug. 1), according to the Largo Police Department.
No one was injured during the incident.
Francis Fahey, 58, of Largo, was charged with multiple counts of Attempted Homicide on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Police said they were called to Fahey’s home on 142nd Avenue N about 8:40 p.m. for a report of a suicidal subject. The report said that that an intoxicated man armed with several firearms and had locked himself inside his bedroom.
As Largo officers arrived on scene, Fahey fired several rounds from inside his home. Multiple officers returned fire.
The area was locked down and the Largo tactical apprehension and control team was activated and came to the scene. Fahey again fired several rounds from inside his home at tactical team members.
Fahey was eventually taken into custody inside his home without injury.
No citizens or officers were injured as a result of this incident, police said.
This incident is actively being investigated by the Largo Police Department.
