Arrest | Miami Couple | Hernando Sheriff

The two are accused of using fraudulent identities to buy cell phones.

SPRING HILL – A man and women from Miami were arrested at a Spring Hill cell phone store and accused of using fraudulent identities to buy cell phones, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.

Joshua Matthew Lorenzo, 22, was charged with one count each of Grand Theft more than $20,000, Organized Fraud more than $20,000, Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information, and Unlawful Use
of a Two-Way Communication Device. His bond was set at $24,000.

Jolena Elizabeth Montano, 21, was charged with one count of Organized Fraud more than $20,000. Her bond was set at $15,000.

The two had their vehicle towed from the business. Hernando detectives said they noted a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Both Lorenzo and Montano indicated there was marijuana inside the vehicle. Detectives said they plan to get a search warrant to examine the contents of the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending further investigation.

It is also likely, deputies said, that an employee at the cell phone store will face charges of Organized Fraud, pending the outcome of further investigation.

Deputies said they were contacted by security personnel at Cellular Sales Corporate in connection with possible identity theft happening at a Spring Hill authorized dealer.

Security personnel indicated an employee was helping Lorenzo and Montano obtain numerous cell phones using fraudulent identities.

An investigation ensued, and on Friday (Aug. 28), the two were arrested when they arrived at the Verizon Authorized Retailer – Cellular Sales store, 4160 Commercial Way, to pick up the phones.
