FHP Charges North Carolina Men with Drug Trafficking
FHP troopers stopped them for minor traffic violations.
HERNANDO COUNTY – A traffic stop for minor traffic violations ended in arrests and multiple drug-related charges for two North Carolina men.
Arrested were Patrick Russell Allen, 33, and Jelani Omar Burwell, 38. They were charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, illegal use of a vehicle to traffic drugs, possession of MDMA, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers were patrolling along I-75 in Hernando County about 11:22 a.m. Friday (Aug. 28) when, near milepost 301, they stopped a 2020 Nissan Altima for following too closely and seat belt violations.
The two occupants from North Carolina displayed overtly nervous behavior so troopers called in K-9Titan. Titan alerted to the car. Troopers said they resulting search turned up 907 MDMA pills.
