Driver Arrested After Crash That Killed Seffner Man, Seriously Injured Plant City Woman
FHP troopers say he was driving while drunk.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a Dover man after a late night crash killed another man and seriously injured a woman.
The deceased driver, a 29-year-old Seffner man, was declared dead at a hospital where he was taken after the crash. His passenger, a 28-year-old Plant City woman, was seriously injured in the crash.
Teodoro J. Avellaneda, 21, of Dover, was charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter. Avellaneda was not injured in the crash.
The crash happened about 11:45 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 19) at the intersection of U.S. 92 and McIntosh Road in Hillsborough County.
Troopers said Avellaneda was driving a pickup truck north on McIntosh Road when he failed to stop for a red traffic light and hit a sedan that was eastbound on U.S. 92.
