Storm damage was in the Forest Lakes Estates Mobile Home Community.

ZEPHYRHILLS – Emergency management officials said 80 homes in the Forest Lakes Estates Mobile Home Community were damaged Thursday (Dec. 20) as heavy storms rolled through Florida.

Pasco County Building officials said they have identified 80 homes with damage in the Forest Lake Estates community:

Five homes are deemed unsafe due to major damage.
20 homes have moderate to major damage.
55 homes have minor to moderate damage.

Pasco County government offered assistance to all affected families; however, they all chose to stay with family and friends.

Early reports indicated that a tornado might have touched down, however, Pasco officials said late in the day that the damage was caused by straight-line winds, not a tornado.

Damage appeared to be limited to the Forest Lake Estates community although the county closed Robert K. Rees Memorial Park (aka Green Key Beach), Moon Lake Park and Key Vista Nature Park until further notice because of flooding.
