Pinellas Cold Weather Shelters Open

The shelters will accept guests all night and close about 6 a.m. Monday.

PINELLAS COUNTY – With temperatures expected to drop into the low 40s, Pinellas County has activated its cold night shelters.

Pinellas cold night shelters for the homeless will open between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. today (Jan. 20) with the exception of Peace Memorial, which will open at 5 p.m.

Temperatures are predicted to be in the low 40s with strong wind gusts and “feels like” temperatures in the 30s. The shelters will accept guests all night and close the following morning at about 6 a.m.  Shelter guests will be provided a hot evening meal, a warm, safe place to sleep overnight and breakfast Monday (Jan. 21).

This activation is predicted to last one night as temperatures are expected to warm up on Monday, Jan. 21. However there will be further notice should they open on additional nights.

*Location opens at 5 p.m.

Salvation Army

Families will be placed in family shelters. Citizens needing those accommodations should call 2-1-1 Tampa Bay Cares for information.
