Pasco: Prepare for High Winds

Hurricane | Tropical Storm | Weather

Residential curbside trash and recycling collection suspended because of Irma.

PASCO COUNTY – This county’s Division of Emergency Management urges residents to be prepared for the possibility of severe weather as Hurricane Irma approaches Florida.

Regardless of the storm’s track, Pasco County could receive hurricane or tropical storm force winds. With a high wind event, it’s important to secure all loose items around your home, such as patio furniture, grills, planters, umbrellas, etc., Pasco officials said.

In addition, residential curbside trash and recycling collection services are being suspended. Licensed haulers will cease pickups as of the end of the day today (Sept. 7). There will be no collection Friday (Sept. 8) and collection will remain suspended until further notice.

The county asks that trash and recycling containers be secured to avoid them from being blown around by winds expected with the storm. Once the storm has passed and Pasco County Emergency Services has deemed it safe, residential collection service will resume.

Suspension of commercial collection service is to be determined on a case-by-case basis by each individual hauler. Commercial customers should contact their service provider for information.

Pasco residents should review the Pasco County Disaster Planning Guide at pascocountyfl.net.

Pasco County residents can call the Pasco County Customer Service line with any questions or concerns at (727) 847-2411.
