Hurricane Recovery Information: Pinellas County

Pinellas County’s Citizen Information Center closed Monday at 10 p.m. and will resume operation from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. today.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Emergency management officials and partners are well into the response and recovery phase following Hurricane Irma and first responders, including Pinellas County staff and other partners continue working to restore services throughout the community.

Public works crews completed initial road clearing and will begin a second phase over the next several days to remove storm debris from rights of way. All county-maintained bridges have been inspected and are open.

The Pinellas County Utilities potable water system is safe and there is no need to boil water.

Duke Energy is working with the county to restore power on a priority basis to sewer pump stations. As this work continues, residents are reminded to limit water usage by remembering the following steps:

*Do not pour water down the drain.
*Avoid doing loads of laundry or running the dishwasher
*Limit flushing toilets when possible.

Additionally as traffic signals continue experiencing outages, drivers are reminded to treat intersections with non-working lights as a four-way stop.

Two public shelters remain open, displaced residents can take refuge at Ross Norton Recreation Center,  1426 S MLK. Jr Ave., Clearwater,  or John Sexton Elementary School, 1997 54th Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

Two shelters also remain open for residents with special needs, they are located at John Hopkins Middle School, 701 16th St. S, St. Petersburg, and Oak Grove Middle School, 1370 S Belcher Road, Clearwater.

Pinellas County government offices and parks will remain closed today (Sept. 12) because of Hurricane Irma recovery efforts. The St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will return to its normal operations today. Call your airline for specific flight updates. The Solid Waste facility will resume normal business hours at 6 a.m. today.

County parks, preserves and Heritage Village will reopen Saturday (Sept. 16).

The county’s Citizen Information Center closed at 10 p.m. Monday (Sept. 11) and will resume operation from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. today. Residents can call that line with questions at (727) 464-4333.
