Hermine Likely to Become Hurricane
Forecasters are saying Hermine will likely make landfall as a hurricane.
TAMPA BAY – The National Weather Service is predicting that Tropical Storm Hermine will become Hurricane Hermine before it makes landfall.
In a report issued about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 31), the National Weather Service was predicting the storm would drift north-northeast overnight and will reach the north Florida coastline this afternoon or evening. A tropical storm warning and hurricane watch remained in effect for coastal areas from the Anclote River north through the Suwanee River. A 6 a.m. update said that the storm is strengthening as it moves toward the panhandle and is likely to be at hurricane strength before it makes landfall tonight.
