Early Estimates Indicate Millions in Damages from Hermine in Hernando

At least one business was destroyed, according to the Hernando Sheriff’s Office.

HERNANDO COUNTY – The cost of damages from Hurricane Hermine are nearing $8 million in Hernando, according to preliminary estimates.

An initial survey of the damaged areas was made Saturday (Sept. 3) and Sunday (Sept. 4), the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said. Damage assessment teams surveyed 535 structures, including eight commercial buildings. Of that total, two were destroyed, including one business; 18 had major damage; 179 had minor damage; and 334 were affected. Officials said the total cost of the damages amounted to about $7.79 million.
