Beaches Chamber Named Official Travel Information Center

The designation is expected to promote business in the area.

ST. PETE BEACH – The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce is now a VISIT FLORIDA certified travel information center.

The recognition is expected to bring heightened visitor experience within the area. VISIT FLORIDA research indicates that visitors who stop at official Information Centers stay longer and invest more money into their Florida vacation based on the information and experience they receive at one of these facilities.

This certification comes after a three-month renovation that included new flooring, facilities, interior design and even a “Mobi,” an interactive kiosk that displays real-time attractions, accommodations and takes selfies.

Certified Travel Information Center | VISIT FLORIDA | TravelTo become a CTIC,  the chamber had to meet requirements specified by VISIT FLORIDA. Among those: be a VISIT FLORIDA partner, be open year-round a minimum of five days a week, be located in a convenient and accessible location for traveler ease, and have access to parking and restroom facilities to accommodate travelers including those with disabilities.

“We are constantly striving to make our organization and center a magnet for visitors to come to our area,” chamber president and CEO Robin Sollie said.

The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest chambers in the Tampa Bay area, serving beach communities from Sand Key in the north to Pass-A-Grille in the south.

The chamber’s members are primarily one of two types – tourism-related businesses who use the chamber to promote the area and their companies and service-related businesses who use the chamber as a means of networking with the local business community to identify potential customers and business partners.

The chamber is an independent, nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors elected annually from among our members. It was created in its current form in 1997, when three previously autonomous chambers joined forces to better conduct chamber business and promote the Tampa Bay beaches area as a whole. The chamber operates visitor centers on St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach and Indian Shores. The St. Pete Beach location also serves as the central office.
