PSTA and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are partnering to help keep drunken drivers off the road on New Year’s Eve.

PINELLAS COUNTY – The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has partnered with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to bring free, late night transportation options on New Year’s Eve.

PSTA will offer free service on all routes after 8 p.m. Select major routes (4, 52, 60, Central Ave Trolley, Suncoast Beach Trolley and Looper) will have extended service hours until 1 a.m. The Jolley Trolley serving along Clearwater Beach will extend regular service until 2 a.m.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri warns driving after celebrating on New Year’s Eve is not worth the risk.

“If you drive under the influence, it’s going to cost you more than you’re prepared to pay,” Gualtieri said. “Use free bus transportation, a ride hailing app, or a designated driver. Whichever you choose, just make the right decision and get home safe. There’s no excuse.”

PSTA regularly provides service partnership for large-scale events across Pinellas County and hopes more will learn about the New Year’s Eve free, extended service to enhance safety in the county.
