Zephyrhills Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

He failed to negotiate a curve, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Zephyrhills man died Sunday (Dec. 24) after his SUV failed to negotiate a curve and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jerry Lewis Pippins, 59, of Zephyrhills, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 10:23 p.m. on Lake Iola Road south of Blanton Road. Mr. Pippins was driving south on Lake Iola and failed to negotiate a curve, troopers said. The 2008 Ford Explorer he was driving drove onto the shoulder and collided with a street sign then with several trees. The SUV then overturned.
