He was walking along the shoulder of State Road 54 when he was hit, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Zephyrhills man is in critical condition after he was hit by a hit-and-run driver while he was walking along State Road 54, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Steven Edward Terwilliger, 50, of Zephyrhills, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash happened about 12:20 a.m. Saturday (March 3) on SR 54 west of Dean Dairy Road in Pasco County. Troopers said he was walking west on the north shoulder of SR 54 when, for unknown reasons, a Ford pickup truck drove onto the north shoulder and hit Terwilliger. He was knocked into a ditch.

After the impact, the truck left the scene. Troopers are asking anyone with information to contact the FHP by using *FHP or calling (813) 558-1800. Tips may also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
