She did not put the vehicle in park, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A woman died Wednesday (March 20) when she was run over by her own car, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Yong Sue O’Donnell, 47, died at the scene.

Early Wednesday morning, after pulling into the driveway at a home on Valencia Circle, Ms. O’Donnell turned her car off without putting the gear in park mode. As she got out of the car, it began to roll backwards, knocking her to the ground.

Because of the position of the steering wheel, police said, the car turned and ran over her.

A neighborhood security guard found her around 4:37 a.m. and called for help.

The investigation is continuing.
