Wesley Chapel Motorcyclist Dies in U.S. 19 Crash

The other driver tried to make a U-turn into the path of the motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Wesley Chapel motorcyclist died this afternoon (Aug. 4) in a crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jacob Taylor Gianatasio, 23, of Wesley Chapel, died at the scene. The other driver, James Douglas Pulver, 83, of Port Richey, was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. on U.S. 19 at San Marco Drive in Pasco County.

Pulver was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra north on U.S. 19 when he tried to make a U-turn. Troopers said he turned into the path of the 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 motorcycle that Mr. Gianatasio was riding south on U.S. 19. As a result, the two collided.
