Weeki Wachee Man, 84, Dies in Hernando Crash on U.S. 19

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Weeki Wachee man died Friday (Jan. 12) when the SUV he was driving overturned in a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ryszard Roman Cwiklik, 84, of Weeki Wachee, died at the scene. Robert Campbell, 77, and Grace Campbell, 76, of Homosassa, who were in the other vehicle, were both taken to the Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 2:07 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Country Road. Troopers said Mr. Cwiklik was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue west on Country Road. When he reached the intersection at U.S. 19, he traveled across both the north- and southbound lanes and into the path of a 2017 Nissan Murano driven by Robert Campbell, who was headed south on U.S. 19.

The Rogue overturned in the crash and came to rest on the outside southbound shoulder of U.S. 19. The Murano came to rest on the northbound shoulder.
