UPDATE: FHP Searches for Riverview Woman in Connection with Fatal Hit and Run

A tow truck driver was killed this morning (Feb. 15) when he was hit on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a woman driver who fled the scene of a fatal accident on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

Troopers say the unknown woman was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat northbound on the Howard Frankland Bridge about 2: 22 a.m. this morning (Feb. 15) when she hit a tow truck driver. The driver, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was outside his tow truck, which was parked on the outside shoulder of the roadway. The impact caused the tow truck driver to hit his vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Ram. The man died at the scene.

The driver of the Passat did not stop, troopers say. The Passat was later found at the Crown Plaza Hotel near Westshore Mall in Tampa. Troopers are asking that anyone with information about Allison Faye Huffman, 36, of Riverview should call (813) 631-4020.
