He stepped into oncoming traffic, FHP troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY – A Zephyrhills man died from injuries he received when struck by an SUV while crossing U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Terry Anthony Putz, 51, of Zephyrhills, died at Advent Health Zephyrhills, where he was taken after the crash. No one else was injured.

The crash happened about 7:10 p.m. Saturday (March 9) on U.S. 301 north of Vinson Avenue in Pasco County.

Troopers said a 1999 Chevrolet Venture was headed north on U.S. 301. Mr. Putz was crossing west across the northbound traffic lanes on U.S. 301 when he stepped into the path of the Chevrolet.
