U.S. 19 Hit-and-Run Crash Kills Spring Hill Man

He could have been hit by as many as three vehicles, FHP troopers said.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring Hill man died Saturday (May 25) of injuries he suffered when he was hit by multiple vehicles while crossing U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dustin J. Wolfingbarger, 34, of Spring Hill, died at Oak Hill Hospital where he was taken after the crash. It is unclear if he had been drinking, troopers said.

The crash happened about 8:50 p.m. on U.S. 19 (Commercial Way) south of Pacific Avenue in Hernando County.

Troopers said Mr. Wolfingbarger was hit by “one, if not two, vehicles that were silver and white in color.”

After those impacts, troopers said Mr. Wolfingbarger was lying in the roadway when he was hit by a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck that was being driven south on U.S. 19.

Troopers said they are searching for the vehicle(s) that originally hit Mr. Wolfingbarger. Anyone with any information regarding the crash is asked to contact the FHP by calling (813) 558-1800, *FHP, or Crime Stoppers at (866) 990-TIPS (8477).
