Two Dead after U.S. 19 Crash

One car turned into the path of another, according to FHP troopers.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Two Massachusetts women died from injuries they received in a crash on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Diane P. Pires, 84, died at Mease Countryside Hospital where she was taken after the crash. Her passenger, Diana Rakauskas, 69, died at the scene. Both were from Kingston, MA. The other driver, John Boussias, 56, of Palm Harbor, was taken to Mease Countryside with minor injuries.

The crash happened about 6:02 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 1) at the intersection of U.S. 19 N and Royal Boulevard in PInellas County.

Troopers said Ms. Pires was driving a 2013 Volvo T6 south on U.S. 19. She turned left onto Royal Boulevard into the path of a 2011 Audi A8 being driven north on U.S. 19 by Boussias.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
