The driver was cited for careless driving, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A woman was seriously injured Monday (Sept. 3) when a truck drove through her home, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said.

Ashley Zurla, 38, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, Samuel Anderson, 44, was treated at the scene. Children were home at the time but were not injured.

Anderson was cited for careless driving, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

It is unclear why the pickup truck drove through the home. Firefighters said they were called to the home on 38th Avenue N for a structural collapse. When they arrived, they discovered a pickup truck had driven through the home.

Police temporarily closed 38th Avenue between 53rd Street and 56th Street N to traffic.
