Extensive road repairs will force traffic diversions into an adjacent construction area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers are urging drivers to find other southbound travel routes.

PASCO COUNTY – A fiery semi tractor-trailer crash tied up traffic on I-75 for hours this morning and caused extensive damage to the roadway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

No one was injured in the crash.

The crash happened about 4:30 this morning (Sept. 22) on southbound I-75 north of State Road 52 in Pasco County. Troopers said a 2007 tractor-trailer driven by Lortatia Marshall, 44, of Waynesboro, GA, traveled into the gore near the SR 52 exit. The gore is the V-shaped area between the exit ramp and the roadway. The truck then crashed into a crash cushion at the exit ramp.

After the impact, the semi traveled for several hundred feet before coming to rest in the outside lane of I-75 and bursting into flames. Marshall got out of the cab without injury, troopers said.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-75 for several hours as traffic was diverted to SR 52. Late today, the FHP announced that all lanes of I-75 had reopened following the early morning crash and roadway repair.
