Troopers are working to determine who was driving an SUV that ran a red light at Duck Slough Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

NEW PORT RICHEY – State troopers are working to discover which of two men was driving an SUV that ran a red light on State Road 54 and caused a four-vehicle crash that killed a 17-year-old girl, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lillia Grace Morris, 17, of Trinity, died at the scene.

Roy Wiley Rimmer, 54, of Tampa, was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with serious injuries. Brandon Casey Windom, 27, of Tampa, and Jason Richard Tout, 34, of Hudson, suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital. All three were in a 2008 Chevrolet SUV.

The crash happened about 2:29 p.m. at the intersection of SR 54 and Duck Slough Boulevard in New Port Richey. Troopers said the Chevrolet SUV was traveling east on SR 54 approaching Duck Slough facing a red light. It is unclear who was driving the SUV. Ms. Morris was driving a 2009 Honda north on Duck Slough approaching SR 54. Ms. Morris had a green light.

The Chevrolet failed to stop at the red light, troopers said, and hit the left side of the Honda.

The impact pushed the Honda across the center median of SR 54 where it first hit a 2009 Nissan driven by Marc Olivier Francois, 20, of Wesley Chapel. It then hit a 2016 Nissan driven by Jay Arnold Adams, 57, of Tampa.

The Honda that Ms. Morris had been driving came to rest facing west in the inside left turn lane and center median of SR 54. The Chevrolet came to rest in the center median and eastbound inside lane of SR 54.

Troopers said that, after the crash, Windom, who had been in the Chevrolet, got out of the SUV and left on foot. Windom was later found and detained with the help of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Tampa Police Department.

Troopers said they are working to determine whether Windom or Rimmer was driving at the time of the crash.
