Treasure Island Motorcyclist Dies After Park Street Crash

His passenger was seriously injured in the single-vehicle crash, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A Treasure Island man lost his life from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash Saturday (June 9) night on Park Street, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Michael Edward Hughes, 63, of Treasure Island, was taken to Palms of Pasadena Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His passenger, Deanna Dora McDorman, 54, also of Treasure Island, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in serious condition.

The crash happened about 11p.m., in the 400 block of Park Street S. Mr. Hughes was driving a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Park when he lost control at a curve and hit a guardrail.

McDorman was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the grass. Police said Mr. Hughes came to rest in the roadway.
