HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview woman has died of injuries she received in a crash Friday (Feb. 23) on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Melanie Hoitt, 38, of Riverview, died at Tampa General Hospital where she was taken after the crash. It is unclear how long she survived.

Isabel Saenz, 18, the driver of the other car, and her passenger, Siera Calderon, 18, both of Riverview, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to St. Joseph’s South.

The crash happened about 4:11 p.m. on U.S. 301 at Southern Pointe Boulevard. Troopers said Ms. Hoitt was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima north on U.S. 301. When she reached Southern Pointe, she turned left into the path of a 2009 Dodge Charger driven by Saenz.

The Dodge hit the passenger side of the Nissan, which overturned.
