Teenaged Passenger Dies After Pasco Traffic Crash

He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the SUV he was in, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PASCO COUNTY – A 17 year old died Friday (Dec. 1) of injuries he received in a traffic crash on U.S. Hwy. 98 in Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Luis Rosales, 17, of Dade City, died at Dade City Hospital where he was taken after the crash. Loghan Harrelson, 16, of Dade City, was taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Dalton Overstreet, 18, of Dade City, the driver of the SUV in which Mr. Rosales was riding, was taken to Dade City Hospital with minor injuries.

Rachael Shireman, 40, of Brooksville, the other driver, was taken to Dade City Hospital with minor injuries.

The traffic crash happened about 5:19 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 98 and Trilby Road. Troopers said Overstreet was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee west on Trilby approaching a flashing red light at the intersecion of U.S. 98. Shireman was driving a 2017 GMC Terrain south on U.S. 98 approaching a flashing yellow light at the intersection.

The Jeep failed to yield, troopers said, and entered the intersection where it collided with the GMC, which hit the passenger side of the Jeep. Both vehicle rotated after the crash. Mr. Rosales,who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the Jeep.
