Teen Pedestrian Critical After Crash

The Tampa Police Department said the 16 year old has died of his injuries.

TAMPA – Officers are investigating a traffic crash that killed a 16-year-old pedestrian, the Tampa Police Department said.

Jephté Germain-Rogers, 16, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He has since died of his injuries.

The crash happened about 3:44 p.m. Friday (Aug. 10) at the intersection of E Sligh and N Rome avenues in Tampa. Police said the teen tried to cross Sligh Avenue outside of the crosswalk, running northbound across the street. He was struck by a 1992 gray Honda Accord traveling westbound on Sligh.

The investigation was still active late Friday.
