Pinellas Park police said they suspect excessive speed and impairment played a part in the single-car crash.

PINELLAS PARK – A teen was killed Saturday (Feb. 18) in a single-car crash, Pinellas Park police said.

An N. Hoang, 18, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt and officers said they believe excessive speed and impairment contributed to the crash.

Police said patrol officers happened on the crash about 5:40 p.m. at 58 Street and 62nd Avenue N. The crash had just happened and witnesses were reporting it.

The 2007 Honda being driven by Mr. Hoang was going north on 58th Street when it drove off the right side of the roadway to go around traffic that was stopped for the red light. The Honda did not stop for the red light, but continued across the intersection and again went off the road into a ditch on the northeast side of the intersection, police said. The front of the Honda hit a cement wall containing a culvert within the ditch. Mr. Hoang was the only one in the Honda.
