The bicyclist rode into the path of an oncoming SUV, according to FHP troopers.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring Hill teenager was seriously injured Wednesday (Jan. 30) when he was hit by an SUV while crossing U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Brennen Lee, 15, of Spring Hill, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Breakwater Boulevard in Hernando County.

Troopers said Brennen was riding a bicycle west on Breakwater crossing U.S. 19 when he rode into the path of a southbound 2008 Toyota 4Runner.

No charges are expected, troopers said.
