HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa woman was seriously injured in a crash on U.S. 41 this morning (Sept. 30) when she lost control of the SUV she was driving, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kathleen Roneker, 76. of Tampa, was taken to St. Joseph’s South Hospital in serious condition.

The crash happened about 3:18 a.m. on U.S. 41 north of Shell Point Road in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Roneker was driving south on U.S. 41 when, for an unknown reason, she lost control of the 2018 Nissan Rogue she was driving. Once off the road, the SUV hit a pole before coming to a rest.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
