Tampa Woman Dies in U.S. 301 Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa woman died Tuesday (Oct. 24) of injuries she received in a traffic crash on U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lacey Del Jones, 21, of Tampa, died at the scene. The other driver, Sheila A. Townsend, 51, of Tampa, was taken to Florida Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 7:39 p.m. at U.S. 301 and McIntosh Road in Hillsborough County. Troopers said Ms. Del Jones was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro north on McIntosh. She turned left onto U.S. 301 and into the path of the 2003 Dodge Ram that Townsend was driving. As a result, the Ram hit the driver’s side of the Camaro.
