Police say they have located a truck matching the description of the vehicle that left the scene.

TAMPA – Police here say they are investigating a hit and run crash that killed a pedestrian this morning (Feb. 20).

The name of the pedestrian who was killed is bring withheld until his next of kin are notified.

Officers say the crash happened about 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of E Columbus Drive and 53rd Street N. A man who was on E Columbus was hit by a dump truck that did not stop. A vehicle matching the description of the dump truck has been located near N 50th Street and I-4 where a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over the truck. It has not yet been confirmed that it is the truck that was involved in the fatal collision.
