Tampa Crash Kills Motorcyclist

The other driver failed to yield right of way, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A motorcyclist died of injuries he received in a traffic crash Saturday (July 15) night, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Antonio Castillo, 25, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash happened about 10:30 pm at the intersection of W Hillsborough Avenue and N MacDill Avenue. The driver of a Ford Econoline van was traveling south on MacDill and failed to yield the right-of-way to Mr. Castillo, who was going east on Hillsborough, officers said. The motorcyclist struck the van.

The driver of the van showed no signs of impairment, remained at the scene, and is cooperating fully with police investigators, officers said. Police did not release the driver’s name.
