ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg woman was killed Sunday (Nov. 13) when the SUV she was driving fell from an overpass, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Aishia Charmekia Musgrove, 34, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene. Her passenger, Shulita Haskins, 28, of Clearwater, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries. Haskins was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Ms. Musgrove was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango south on the exit ramp from southbound I-275 to eastbound I-175 when she lost control of the SUV. Troopers said the SUV collided with the outer concrete barrier wall and went over it, falling about 70 feet from the elevated overpass to the ground below. The SUV was upside down when it came to a rest. Alcohol was not a factor, they said.
