St. Petersburg Woman Dies in I-275 Crash
She lost control of her car, FHP troopers say.
ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg woman died this morning (Oct. 7) in a single-car crash on I-275, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Laquanda Nicole George, 43, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said. It is unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Test results are pending.
The crash happened about 7:19 a.m. on northbound I-275 north of 54th Avenue S in St. Petersburg.
Troopers said Ms. George was driving a 2000 Mercury Marquis north on I-275 when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the car. The car left the road and hit a light pole and a tree on the outside shoulder of the road.
