St. Petersburg Crash Kills Motor Scooter Driver

The scooter brakes locked, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A motor scooter driver died of injuries he suffered in a crash Saturday (July 13) night on 58th Street N, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Kevin Christopher Daigle, 31, died at St. Petersburg General Hospital, where he was taken after the crash. Police said Mr. Daigle was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was a factor in this crash.

The crash happened about 10 p.m. on 58th Street N just south of 29th Avenue N in St. Petersburg.

Police said Mr. Daigle was driving a Chongqing Astronautical Bashan motorcycle scooter north on 58th St.N when, for an unknown reason, the scooter locked the brakes, drifted toward the east side of the roadway and struck a curb just south of 29th Avenue. Mr. Daigle was thrown to the ground.
