ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Pete Beach motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday (Aug. 24) in a crash on the Pinellas Bayway, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Kyle Russell Lowman, 19, of St. Pete Beach, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet.

The other driver, Lawrence Elliot Morse, 68, of St. Petersburg, was not injured in the crash. However, police said, he suffered a medical episode and was also taken to Bayfront.

The crash happened about 5 p.m. at the intersection of the East/West Pinellas Bayway S and Brittany Drive S.

Lowman was driving a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle east on the Bayway in the median lane. A 2010 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Morse, was exiting Point Brittany trying to turn left onto the Bayway.

Morse failed to yield from his stop sign, pulled out and struck the side of the Suzuki, officers said. The Suzuki went down onto its left side and slid into the median.
