Spring Hill Man Dies in Hernando Crash

He failed to negotiate a curve and traveled into oncoming traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A Spring Hill man died Thursday (Nov. 2) of injuries he received in a traffic crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

David W. Taulbee, 57, of Spring Hill, died at the scene. The other driver, Blake Klein Sandifur, 35, also of Spring Hill, was taken to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash happened about 7:52 p.m. on County Road 583 (California Street) just north of Old California Street. Mr. Taulbee was driving a 2003 Buick LeSabre north on CR 583 approaching Old California Street. He failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane.

The left front of the Buick hit the left front of the 2006 Volvo V50 that Sandifur was driving.
