Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Port Richey Motorcyclist
He failed to negotiate a curve and was thrown from his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
PASCO COUNTY – A Port Richey man died Wednesday (Feb. 14) of injuries he received when he was thrown from his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
David Andrew Ruffner, 49, of Port Richey, died at the Medical Center of Trinity where he was taken after the crash. He was wearing a helmet.
The crash happened about 3:20 p.m. on County Road 77 (Rowan Road) north of State Road 54. Troopers said Mr. Ruffner was driving a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle north through a serpentine roadway curve while approaching the intersection of Sharpsburg Boulevard.
As the Kawasaki entered the north portion of the curve it hit the outside (east) curb shoulder of the road and Mr. Ruffner was thrown from the bike.
