Seven-Vehicle Crash Ties Up Traffic on Gandy

The crash started when one car ran a red light, Pinellas Park police said.

PINELLAS PARK – Traffic was tied up for a couple of hours Wednesday (May 18) on Gandy Boulevard after a seven-car collision.

Details of the crash are sketchy although Pinellas Park police say there was at least one serious injury. The accident happened around 1:42 p.m. at the Grand Avenue intersection. Police said one vehicle that was traveling west on Gandy ran a red light and hit another vehicle that was in turning off Gandy onto Grand. The vehicle that ran the red light then stuck and bounced off of five more vehicles at the intersection. The crash closed lanes on Gandy for several hours. Police opened all lanes again at about 3:43 p.m.
