Speed was a factor in the single-vehicle crash, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

SEMINOLE – A Seminole man died Friday (March 30) after his car drove through two yards and hit a tree, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

James Moriarty Jr., 76, of Seminole, died at Largo Medical Center Main Campus where he was taken after the crash. He may have suffered a medical emergency that led to the crash.

The crash happened about 4:17 p.m. on Park Boulevard just west of Ridge Road in Seminole. Deputies said Mr. Moriarty was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra east on Park when he drove over the raised concrete median barrier.

The Nissan then went into the oncoming westbound lanes of Park then up onto the curb and sidewalk along the right westbound lane. The Nissan then drove through the yard of one home before striking a mailbox. It then went through a second yard and hit two fences. After striking the third and final fence, the Nissan crashed head-on into a large tree causing the back end of the vehicle to spin counterclockwise.

The counter-clockwise motion caused the Nissan to strike a parked unoccupied Ford F-150 pickup truck in the driveway of the house at 11635 Park Blvd.

Speed was a factor in the crash, deputies said.
