Scooter Driver Seriously Injured in I-75 Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man riding a scooter was seriously injured in a crash on I-75 this morning (March 5), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Choster Exantus, 32, of Tampa, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. The other driver, Gehan Rezk-alla, 54, of Land O’ Lakes, was not injured.

Exantus was cited for impeding traffic. Rezk-alla was cited for careless driving, troopers said.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. on southbound I-75 north of Fletcher Avenue in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Exantus was driving a 2018 Yngf wouth on I-75 in the outside lane “at a very low speed.” Rezk-alla, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna, overtook and collided with the rear of the scooter. The scooter was pushed onto the outside grass shoulder.
