Safety Harbor Motorcyclist Critical After Crash

The motorcyclist was involved in two crashes, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said. Speed and impairment are believed to be factors in the crash.

SAFETY HARBOR -A Safety Harbor motorcyclist who was involved in two early morning crashes has died from his injuries, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Robert M. Dobraski, 54, of Safety Harbor,  died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he was flown after the crash. Mr. Dobraski was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash happened about 2:50 this morning (July 7) on Third Street N in Safety Harbor. Deputies said Mr. Dobraski was driving his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Third Street when he struck a legally
parked vehicle in front of 1078 3rd St. N.

During the investigation, deputies said they learned that officers from the Clearwater Police Department were already trying to locate Mr. Dobraski. Clearwater officers told deputies that Mr. Dobraski crashed his motorcycle in Clearwater earlier this morning.

Witnesses told officers that Mr. Dobraski was driving his motorcycle on Sunset Point Road when he hit the median and crashed near Lawson Road in Clearwater. Mr. Dobraski got back on his motorcycle and drove off towards Safety Harbor.

Deputies said speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.
