Ruskin Motorcyclist Dies in U.S. 41 Crash

He hit a boat trailer and was, in turn, hit by a car, FHP troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Ruskin man died Monday (Oct. 22) when he was hit by a car while lying in a roadway where he had fallen after a previous collision, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Thomas William Connors, 59, of Ruskin, died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 7:35 p.m. on northbound U.S. 41 north of old U.S. 41A in Hillsborough County.

Mr. Connors was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on U.S. 41 when he hit the rear of a boat trailer towed by a 2001 Ford pickup truck driven by Marty John Boatwright, 54, of Gibsonton.

Troopers said Mr. Connors was thrown from his motorcycle by the impact and landed in the inside lane of U.S. 41 where he was hit by a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Todd John Terrell, 34, of Jackson, AL.

No charges are pending.
