She stepped into oncoming traffic while arguing with someone, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

POLK COUNTY – A Riverview woman died this morning (Aug. 30) when she stepped into oncoming traffic while arguing with someone at the side of I-4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jade Marie Hicks, 35, of Riverview, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 12:52 a.m. on I-4 at mile marker 46 in Polk County.

Troopers said Ms. Hicks was a passenger in a 2011 Ford F150 driven by Alvaro Luis Perez, 33, of Orlando when an argument began among the occupants of the truck. Perez stopped the truck on the outside shoulder of westbound I-4. He and Ms. Hicks got out of the truck and began walking along the shoulder where the argument continued.

For unknown reasons, Ms. Hicks stepped into the travel lanes and was hit by a 2010 Nissan Frontier driven by Dustin Joseph Donaldson, 38, of Port Richey. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.
