HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview man was seriously injured this morning (Oct. 17) when his car overturned in a traffic crash on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Brian. S. Thoryn, 28, of Riverview, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. The other driver, Mark D. Christenson, 48, also of Riverview, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.

The crash happened about 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and State Road 618 in Hillsborough County.

Troopers said Thoryn was driving a 2016 Kia Soul south on U.S. 301 in the outside lane. The Kia turned left onto SR 618 into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban that was turning from northbound U.S. 301 onto westbound SR 618.

After the two vehicle collided, the Kia was pushed into the guardrail and overturned onto its left side.
