Riverview Man Dies in I-4 Crash

He was walking along the interstate and stepped into traffic, FHP troopers said.

POLK COUNTY – A Riverview man died this morning (Feb. 24) when he was hit by an SUV on I-4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Matthew Roland Johns, 21, of Riverview, died at the scene.

The crash happened about 6:14 a.m. on westbound I-4 near Milepost 30 in Polk County.

Troopers said Mr. Johns was, for an unknown reason, walking along the interstate when he stepped into traffic and was hit by a 2014 Nissan Rogue.
