New Port Richey Woman Seriously Injured in U.S. 301 Crash

She “darted” into the path of an oncoming SUV, according to FHP troopers.

PASCO COUNTY – A New Port Richey woman was critically injured Monday (Feb. 11) while trying to cross U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Shana Nicole Lanis, 28, of New Port Richey, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash happened about 9:37 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and Shamrock Place in Pasco County.

Troopers said Lanis was walking south along the west shoulder of U.S. 301 when she “darted” into the direct path of a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, which hit her.

No charges are pending.
